How the Bridge Builds Community

Imagine King Park as an unbroken piece of land stretching from Nicollet to 2nd Av. S. That’s right. Our park was three blocks wide, rather than, two, before I-35W was constructed. The freeway not only lopped off one side of the park, it also dug a trench that splintered the community.

The bridge provides a unique opportunity for people on both sides of I-35W to work together to build lasting relationships that will reconnect the community.

The new bridge will provide a safe pedestrian transit connection for both sides of the freeway and stand as a symbol for how much the community can accomplish when it works together.
